The art of Wu Wei is the art of "non-doing". Non-doing does not imply doing nothing,
it implies living effortlessly, flowing with nature. When we slow down, listen to
our inner voice and trust ourselves, then we will be able to enter the dance of wu wei.
In healing, Wu Wei reminds us that our bodies have the innate wisdom to return to
balance and health. If we listen to the natural rhythms of our bodies, we will
know what we need in order to thrive healthfully. Health and well being are our
natural state.
In this modern age, we are pushed beyond our natural limits, emotionally, mentally and
physically. Herbert Bensen, MD., the President of the Mind Body Medical Institute
( www.MBMI.org ) estimates that 60-90% of all illnesses are stress related. Stress,
the primary culprit in disease, is defined as a state of bodily or mental tension
resulting from factors that tend to alter the existent equilibrium. These factors include:
the quick pace of life, overwork, traffic, isolation, emotional demands placed upon us by
others, environmental pollutants, and faulty diet. They also include the harmful things
that we do to ourselves in an effort to relieve this stress: smoking, drinking alcohol
and overeating. Over time, our bodies are unable to regain equilibrium. Thatıs when we fall ill.
Traditional Chinese medicine gently returns us to our natural state of health by working with
Chi, our body's energy. Acupuncture, Chinese herbology and other Chinese healing modalities
act as catalysts to restore balance, harmony, and well-being to our bodies and to our lives.
At Wu Wei, "non-doing" is an essential component of health.
Wu Wei provides a haven from the stresses of daily life so that you can pause, let go and
allow your body's healing energies to take over. Acupuncture, herbology and other Chinese
healing methods tap into your body's own natural healing energies. At Wu-Wei, you return to your
inmost being. You return to health. Health is being.
